Alabama USA Track & Field’s mission is to promote competitive excellence, interest, and participation in the sports of track & field, long distance running, and race walking. Our youth track & field program has the largest participation of our competitive activities. Our national organization USATF provides our youth track and field athletes many opportunities to grow and develop through Association, Region, National and International Championships. Alabama plans to offer as many opportunities as possible in addition to the above mentioned meets.
The reorganization of USATF voted at the meeting in Reno, for major changes to USATF. Through the creation of the new Youth Division, USATF recognized that our youth programs are the future of our sport. USATF's largest competitive track and field program for youth is the Junior Olympics, where over 65,000 youth athletes compete each year in the Track & Field and Cross Country championships. Each year, meets are held at the state, regional and national levels.
USATF Youth & Youth Runner are Perfect Together
Today the USATF Youth Division has launched a new internet home with youthrunner.com.
The Youth Division and Youth Runner Magazine have teamed up together to create a spot for coaches and athletes to submit team stories and get the recognition they deserve. It is also designed to be a central hub to find out about the latest news, photos, videos, results, and event information. Athletes can get a profile, enter their best times, and find out about other teams around the country. "This is just another great source our New Youth Division will be working with to make our Youth Program the Best in the country," said Lionel Leach USATF National Youth Division Chair.
